Exhibit Winners at Spring 2016 Whitman Show

Six exhibitors brought eight exhibits, totaling 34 cases of material, for display at the spring 2016 Whitman Coin and Collectibles Exposition in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Maryland State Numismatic Association (MSNA) sponsored the exhibit area (supervised by exhibits chairman Bryce Doxzon) and presented awards to three prize winners:

  • First place (1/10 oz. gold) – “Sacred Images” by Michael Shutterly (pictured above). 
  • Second place (1/10 oz. platinum) – “Chaim Gross’ Ten Commandments” by Simcha Kuritzky.MSNA Exhibit 2016 2nd
  • Third place (1/20 oz. gold) – “Expertizing a Numismatic Medal as an Artifact of the Eisenhower Presidency” by Darryl Gomez.MSNA Exhibit 2016 3rd

 

Appreciation prizes were also presented by MSNA for these exhibits:

  • “Coinage of the German Colonies” by Gerald Grzenda
  • “Princess Kaiulani of Hawaii: Commemorative Gold Issues” by Cynthia Gomez
  • “Silver Cobs of the Major Spanish American Mints” by Thomas Corey

These exhibits by winning exhibitors were also in competition:

  • “Ludwig van Beethoven: The Man for All Reasons” by Michael Shutterly
  • “Feline Elongated Type Set” by Simcha Kuritzky
