One of the highlights of the Stack’s Bowers Galleries’ official auction of the Whitman Baltimore Spring Expo will be a gold Nobel Peace Prize medal, originally awarded in 1936.

In February, news of one of the greatest American buried treasures ever to be unearthed, the Saddle Ridge Hoard, rocked the numismatic world. Discovered by a California couple out on a walk with their dog, the hoard contained more than 1,400 rare U.S. gold coins, many in pristine condition.

Bidders at the convention and worldwide on the Internet competed to acquire rarities as well as popular notes, resulting in 99 percent of the lots being sold.
