2012 Baltimore June Expo was Star-Spangled

Two of the most coveted United States coins and the Bicentennial of a war victory made the 2012 Whitman Baltimore June Expo seem especially star-spangled.

The finest certified Ultra High Relief Double Eagle, (Proof-69, PCGS) and an awe-inspiring Superb Gem 1879 Flowing Hair Stella (Proof-68, NGC) were among the many highlights in the Official Auction by Stack’s Bowers Galleries.

And a special exhibit of Proof and Uncirculated Commemorative StarSpangled Banner coins offered an opportunity to collect while helping fund our nation’s celebration of the hardfought victory over the British.

To top it all off, numismatist and author Donald Kagin presented “Our Nation’s First Circulating Currency: The Treasure Notes of the War of 1812” (MSNA Distinguished Lecturer Series, 2pm Friday, Room 301).

Many visitors joined in the fun, at the 40th  Annual Baltimore Expo.
